GIZ is one of the largest international providers of capacity development and technical assistance on climate change worldwide. With its interventions GIZ also builds prerequisites for large-scale investments by public and private banks and investors. GIZ is cur-rently carrying out over 300 climate related projects with a combined funding of over USD 1.9 billion. Mitigation and adaptation are reflected with equal shares in the GIZ portfolio supplemented by activities on climate financing. A significant part of its work is implemented in least developed countries and small island developing states.
